It’s now time for an little update on whats have been going on in my life and so on. I’ve had many different things going on in my life past two months. Everything from visits in Denmark and Germany to getting a permanent position at Qbranch. Beside this I am now one year older, so I am now allowed to drink booze in USA without getting into extra problems because of age. Other than this there is not much to tell. Sooner or later there comes DreamHack Summer 2010 which I will attend as Network Crew for the first time. Will be fun to see how these guys works
New Year! o/
First post of the year =) Always fun, and sadly there have not been too many new things happening yet. I’ve been working, but that’s not the only thing. I’ve spent some time in Finland, and my home-city Vasa. There I met a lot of my friends from the time when I did live there which is always fun to meet
And best of all is that I had time to spend with my family, which I’ve not met in 6 months.
Now when I’ve recovered from my little flu I had a few days ago. Now it’s time for work upcoming weeks. Next thing I can’t wait for is my trip with friends to Denmark and Copenhagen for Opensourcedays (www.opensourcedays.org). There I will meet one of the guys I’ve spent many hours chatting with, it’s Alexander aka. ahf
So we will drink some beer and listen to some speakers.
For this time it’s all I’ve to say
New year.. soon here :)
I have not been active on this blog as usual. But now it’s time again to do a small summary of what has happened and what will happen.
I have worked more or less throughout the Christmas weekend, this means I could not celebrate my Christmas with my family in Finland. And not only that, but I will also work New Year. But after that I fly home to Finland to finally see my family that I have not seen for 6 months.
This is not the only thing I will do next year, I will also atleast do two scheduled trips. The first one is to Denmark and Copenhagen to visit the Opensource Days 2010. Where I will go with my colleague Fredrik Hansen (PKI) and a few other Swedish friends who do not yet know for sure if they come with us. The second trip is to Germany and to visit the world’s best computer event! The event I’m talking about is obviously Breakpoint and there I go with one of my very good friends for years, Fredrik Arnell (Prozzerg) and several others I chat with daily on IRC.
So in short, I have a lot of fun thrown in front of me. And beyond this I’ll afford me the time with friends in Stockholm and of course work.
DreamHack Winter 2009
Now when I write this, I have had time to sleep after the event and everything is fine. So I guess I could write a little bit about what I did do and who I did do it with. First of all the event started for me, Simon (gujjdo) and David (Yorii) on Saturday, as our trip to Jönköping started. We packed our stuff into Simon’s car and drove down. As Simon had been working whole day we decided that I would drive the way down there. So I did, and we where there later same night. During this drive we got contacted by Carolin (carro) and Louise (lo0) who wanted to meet us. So this all ended with we having a little party at Louise’s place.
On the morning (Sunday) we woke up like 09am when they started to call us to get in touch with David, since they wanted him to start working at Elmia with building the upcoming DreamHack event, so this morning did start early. We managed to get there to 10 ish, and all other except me started building their booth’s. Me then again started looking into www.dreamhack.se and their sites and servers, and how to get them as stable as possible for the mount of traffic they would face later this week. However sadly, this didnt work out too good since the mount of traffic was much bigger than we thought so the servers couldnt handle the traffic. This problem got solved later on during the event, and the last two days where working good.
During the event I spent most of my time with the Tech guys, and to be more specific with Fredrik (ProzZerg), Karl (IcE), Torbjörn (tosse), Markus (SoundGoof) and rest of the time I spent with Jonathan (FalkeX), Carolin (carro), Louise (lo0) and many more. I did meet many new people, mostly crew’s but visitors too. So I would say this was a very nice event except the mount of time I had to put on maintaining the servers to keep the site’s alive during the event. But then again, it was time well spent.
The trip home was fun too, tho I was really sleepy. But it was with a dear friend of mine (Mattias Ahnberg) who was down to DreamHack for a little visit.
Now next up this year is a birthday-party for Louise and Fredrik in middle of December, and rest of the time during this year will more or less go with working
Autumn is here!
So like the topic says, autumn is here.. Wonder what it will bring, all that I know myself that I will do is visit DreamHack Winter. What I will do there is still a mystery for me since I don’t work for DreamHack anymore. I will for sure help my friend Marc out with HLTV.org stuff.
After DreamHack is over, it’s winter allready and then christmas comes, which seems to go by working for me this year. After that new year, which I will partly work and after that I will fly home to Finland to visit my family which I haven’t done since July this year. Hopefully I get some time with my brother to go out in the city to get some beer etc, since that little guy will leave for army soon after my visit.
So lets not plan more than this, it will probably change several times this plan before it’s done, but it’s a really good start if you ask me!
Visitors from Jönköping!
OH! Totally forgot to post about this awsome time I had last weekend. I was so lucky to get a visit from the alltime best partygirl carro and her friends. She did even bring people I’ve never met. Which did make me abit unsure of how this would end. But as allways the people was really nice to spend time with. And yeah, since we’re geek’s I will just announce them under their nick’s on IRC. It was ofc carro, lo0 and klotet (yeah, no blog.. not that cool.. yet)
We did do many funny things, and ofcource some not that funny (shopping). Best was the party last night here, we started out from my place and ended up on a club called syntax error with some friends on my. I think we all agree on that this was one of the better nights out.
Funny people to hang around with thats for sure.. now they’re back in the forest and im alone in the big city of Stockholm
Work: First two days done!
Like the topic says. I’ve now finished my two first days at work (or evenings) and at the same time this week’s work. It’ve been a lot of fun, I work with awsome colleagues and it’s very interesting work. Tho there is many systems I’ve to learn so it will take some weeks before I am really ready to work 100% with all the other working at the NOC.
But definitly been a really good week!
One of the better days.
Hello again..
Today have been one of the better days in my life so far. And I guess I could let you all know why. Its really simple, since I got back from the Finnish Defence Force (army) I’ve been searching for the perfect job to continue my life with in Stockholm.
From today I’ve found it, and it’s now done. I will start working on Wendesday, and you maybe wonder what company im speaking about. Its not DreamHack that I did work with before I left to army. It’s an IT-Company called Qbranch (www.qbranch.se) and there I will work as an Technicant at their NOC (Network Operations Center).
So all-in-all this is one of the best days in my life so far. Since this is really something I’ve wanted to work with some time allready.
over n out.
Linux: Counter-Strike HLTV Server.
I have noticed that there is not too many guide’s for this either. So now I have decied to write one, if anyone other ever will use it I will never know. So first of a you need an installed HLDS Server (Counter-Strike), there is an guide for this too on my blog, so if you start your reading here, change to that guide (here).
After the HLDS is installed on your server you will notice that there is an binary named hltv. This is the binary that you will use for your HLTV-server. Its easy to setup your server now, all you need is and config file, which I have made for this post too and can be found here. When you got your HLTV.cfg fixed all you need is to start the hltv binary like this:
screen -S hltv ./hltv +connect csserverip:port -port 27020 -autoupdate
For some there might come up an error when you’re starting the hltv, then all you have to do is:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/hlserver
Now your HLTV should connect to the specified server in startup-line and should work fine.
DHSTHLM: Day 2 o.
So, here I am sitting in my apartment with two people sleeping here. And me, fully awake and not even sleepy.. What to do? Guess I have to try and catch my sleep too, since the real Day 2 haven’t really started yet. But then again, you’re not supposed to sleep this much on a LAN (peak for mo3 and carro).
Tomorrow I will meet my friend Ahnberg and his girlfriend (for the first time) so that will be fun to speak some geeky stuff again. Else there is just a lot of different games who start their main competition at this event and I will probably just follow Counter-Strike and some cool console game. But lets leave that for tomorrow when I really know what I should do. Maybe go to a BBQ at Yorii’s place, who knows..
Now back at the event, which havent changed that much, gamers play their games, and those who doesnt watches movies or whatever theyre doing ![]()
Soon Ahnberg and his friend from work comes here for a visit.
This was a funny day. And its done now from my party. Im leaving the party, and staying home the last day. Me and my friend TukTuk made a cool movie for the wildcompo. And carro went to an hotel, yorii went home with me and lindmark stays at Globen.. Let’s wait and see what I will do tomorrow.
